1.1 Ensure our values and beliefs underpin our work |
· Continue to use the scenario planning map which outlines the key strands connected to our values and beliefs in all our work · Audit current practices, positions and papers to ensure they reflect our values and beliefs |
· All TPA representatives, working parties and planning teams will use the SPF to inform their work · Values and beliefs will be clearly evident in all TPA documents, practices and website |

1.2 Critically reflect on ourselves and our work |
· Develop processes for reflection to be used at Branch, State and Executive levels · Provide feedback to members in key areas of Governance, Administration & Organisation, Key Strand areas of Curriculum & Delivery, Leadership & Advocacy, Member Welfare & Wellbeing · Use feedback as the basis for planning |
· The majority of members will participate in reflective processes about their involvement with the association, as well as feedback about the work of the association · Increased participation by members in the reflection/feedback planning processes of the association · Demonstrated links between feedback and planning will be evident in Executive, Branch and state-wide work. |

1.3 Take action to ensure the wellbeing of members |
· Continue developing processes and structures which will provide support for members at Branch & state level · Provide advice to the DoE in relation to specific roles, structures and processes which create undue stress for our members, in particular, managing underperformance · Conduct a range of events targeting strategies for supporting positive health & wellbeing |
· Members will report a high level of satisfaction with the support provided for them by the association · Members will report feeling a greater sense of connection with each other · Advice provided by TPA will be used by DoE in considering appropriate and efficient policies, practices and guidelines for school leaders and their communities · High member participation rate in these events |

2.1 Communicate in ways that people understand and identify with |
· Continue to prepare papers on specific topics in the key areas of Curriculum & Delivery, Leadership & Advocacy, ad Member Welfare & Wellbeing · Provide information to members to use with their communities concerning educational matters |
§ Members will report they understand and use this information where appropriate within their school communities § The majority of members will indicate this information has been useful in their work |

2.2 Build trusting and respectful relationships within our community and beyond |
§ Work with the Minister, DoE to shape and influence government education in § Maintain relationships with other groups who have an interest in government education including TRB, TSSP&F and the AEU § Work with other national bodies to influence direction and policy in education at a national level § Provide a range of opportunities for members to build positive relationships with each other |
§ Having a effective MoU as a basis for our work, as measured by progress in targeted areas § Increasing the number of members willing to work on consultative groups § Increased participation in Branch meeting formats |

2.3 Advocate for change supported using rich evidence processes |
§ Continue to use & develop processes to gather evidence for advocacy and advice to the Minister & DoE § Explore opportunities to partner with UTas to research priority areas |
§ Increased response rate from members in harvesting data and information § Establishing a partnership between the TPA and UTas |

3. Leadership develops a rich learning environment |

3.1 Build the capacity of members as strong, effective school leaders |
§ Provide PL opportunities for members in a range of different forums § Allocate resources to Branches for PL |
§ A high level of participation by members at Branch and State-wide events. |

3.2 Collaborative approaches to learning are encouraged and resourced |
§ Use planning teams in key areas of Curriculum & Delivery, Leadership & Advocacy and Member Welfare & wellbeing to co-ordinate and facilitate learning opportunities |

3.3 Value the different styles, experience and knowledge of members in planning learning opportunities |
§ Use members to plan activities at Branch and state level based on the key TPA areas of Curriculum & Delivery, Leadership & Advocacy and Member Welfare & wellbeing |

4. Leadership builds professionalism and management capability |

§ Continue to work closely with TPA media advisor to build the profile of the TPA and government education § Provide members with data and information where appropriate to assist in advocacy with their communities |
§ Increased profile in Tasmanian media |

4.4 Ensure the structures, systems and processes that we use are developed by and understood and valued by members |
§ Have organisational structure and processes that meet the needs of our organisation for the next 4 years § Determine systems, structures and processes following consultation and input from members |
§ Members will provide positive feedback to the Executive through state-wide and branch meetings, and through surveys |

5. Leadership inspires leadership actions and aspirations in others |

5.1 Provide opportunities and support for members to take on leadership roles within the TPA |
§ Invite members to represent TPA on various consultative groups based on their interests, knowledge and skills |
|

5.2 Promote school leadership development across our state |
§ Use an action research model for delivery of leadership PL in 2008 § Work in conjunction with other stakeholders including DoE and UTas to develop a comprehensive approach to leadership development in § Work with Branches to identify potential school leaders and provide at least one event in each Branch to explore leadership |
§ Member participation and feedback § Create a formal partnership with UTas. |

5.3 Encourage others to take up leadership positions within the TPA |
§ Develop and publish position descriptions for the various roles in TPA § Provide information to members regarding the opportunities to become leaders in TPA § Provide specific support for newly appointed leaders, including an induction process § Allocate resources to support members undertaking leadership roles for the TPA |
